On the evening of January 17, 2025, shortly before 7:00 p.m., deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting that occurred in a vehicle in the 2400 block of Catahoula Hwy.
Upon arrival and further investigation, deputies located a male subject deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, he was identified as Codie J. James, 45, St. Martinville, LA.

STATUS: OPENInvestigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance regarding the homicide of Devonte Jamar Colar, 29, of New Iberia.
On Saturday, March 11, 2023, shortly before 1:00 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a deceased male subject who was located in the 1600 block of Prairie Hwy., Breaux Bridge.
Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office subsequently identified the deceased male as Devonte Jamar Colar, 29, New Iberia.
He was last seen by family members on February 22, 2023, and was reported missing to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office on February 28, 2023.

Upon arrival, deputies located Javion Livings, 19, Arnaudville, LA, deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing in reference to this homicide.

On the morning of December 13, 2019, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body of an unidentified black female that was located off of Rookery Road at Lake Martin in Breaux Bridge, LA. She was later identified as Lathresa Yvonne Joubert, 26, Lafayette, LA.
Following further investigation, St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigators were able to determine that she was the victim of blunt force trauma.
